“What calendar do witches use?”

Witches use a lot of different calendars depending on what holidays they celebrate, where they live, ritual scheduling conflicts, astrology, etc. The Wheel of the Year is a popular model, but it’s more of a suggestion than a rule. Spokes can be added or removed from a year-wheel. They can also be rearranged and renamed however someone wants or needs to. The same with a spiderweb, which I prefer to the wheel design.

I’ve found a lot of peace designing primstavs and runstavs and building a personal religious calendar from a combination of Catholic liturgical, Norse lunar reckoning, local weather and personal experiences. Where I am the mistletoe dart has flown to herald another Winter Solstice. And I’ve been thinking a lot about Mothers Mary and Frigg with their starry mantles, both cradling bloody sons in their arms. About how Yule is a season of revelry, but also of rest. The celebration of the coming of a new year and the grief of one passing.
