DESIGNER: Monica Helms

ORIGIN: Designed in 1999 after a discussion with Michael Page (designer of the bisexual pride flag) and “divine intervention” in the form of “an epiphany one morning just after waking up”. Presented in 2000 at a pride parade in Phoenix, Arizona.

COLORS: Light Blue, Pink and White

DESCRIPTION: Five equal sized horizontal stripes in order: light blue, light pink, white, light pink, and light blue.

SYMBOLISM:

The stripes at the top and bottom are light blue, the traditional color for baby boys. The stripes next to them are pink, the traditional color for baby girls. The stripe in the middle is white, for those who are intersex, transitioning or consider themselves having a neutral or undefined gender.”

The pattern is such that no matter which way you fly it, it is always correct, signifying us finding correctness in our lives.”

REPRESENTS: Everyone who isn’t cisgender/sexual.
